Dead Space, the new iOS installment of the popular PC and console game, is a scary break from the iOS norm.
Dead Space for the iPhone is $6.99 and $9.99 Dead Space on the iPad.
Dead Space might be the best all-around iOS game I've played, but it's not without faults. The visuals are effective and very impressive for an iOS game. The "aliens have taken over the space station" story isn't new at all, but it's pretty engaging nevertheless. The controls aren't perfectly precise, but they let you maneveur around in the game rather quickly. That is exactly what I like about this game, it pulls you quickly so it can scare the living daylights out of you.
Dead bodies are sprawn out all over the ship, some fly out in front of your face with horror movie musical cues, others jump up and start to make mince meat of you.
There are unsettling noises all around you one moment and then it quickly qet quiet, too quiet. Aliens move in fast as you fumble to get them between your crosshairs.
It all amounts to an impressively big and immersive atmosphere for your 9.x" iPad display. People who like being scared or have a sense of scientific adventure. Those who like the freedom of roaming a 3D environment without a chance of getting lost in the progress.
While Dead Space on the iPad is awesome, it could stand to be even better.
The combat is kind of clunky and the controls often causes one to inadvertently fire random shots into non threatening elements in the game.
Dead Space is more of a horror game instead of being simply a shooter.
Put on a pair of headphones, which is highly recommended and suggested by the developer, and get ready to get your scare on. Some may finish the game, but all will become lunch often either way.
This game is NOT for the smaller kids. This is recommended for Teens to Adults.
